We have now installed a second terminal server machine locally to handle the 761-0747
rotary line. This was formerly handled by the main UNIBASE server, and has now been
set on its own machine. We expect this to provide a more stable connection than was
previously found.

UNIBASE switched service to the new T1 Frame connection to Vancouver.
We still connect through SPRINT, however we have changed our access route,
connecting first to NETCORE in Vancouver and then to SPRINT. All users should
see improvements in performance.
In order to further enhance your performance on the web, we urge you to
begin using one of the caching servers on our network. Depending on the
loading factor, you may find one server faster than the other. Also, two will
be regular caching while one will be a socks host. Check our information page
for more on
how to connect and use one of the UNIBASE caching servers

Reset
There is now availible a set of scripts that help you maintain your
website. They are the reset scripts. For more info check out
Reference Page
New Web Tools
I have implemented the following new tools for personal Web Page development
- cgiwrap:
This allows you to write your own cgi scripts and maintain them
yourself. IE: you can create/edit without having to consult with me. Common
uses for cgi scripts are form intpreters and database queries.
- imagemap:
This allows you to create/edit your own imagemap files. Common uses
of imagemaps include graphical menus (IMNSHO in most cases that use is
a poor use of bandwidth).
- reset:
This allows you to 'fix' your pages after you have uploaded them.
This script will:
- Rename all htm files to html;
- Set the permissions on all of your Web directories correctly; and
- Set the permissions on all of your Web pages correctly;

Netscape 1.2
and Mosaic 2.0f.
Both are self-extracting archives, if you need additional help, wait and it

Internet Courses
We have put together an Internet course. You can sign up for the course
at CMS Computers Plus (586-5504), by e-mailing
Leigh Calnek or by filling
out this form. (When I create it). The course costs $120.00 and consits
of 10 - 1 hour sessions (two sessions are run back to back so one 'class'
takes 2.5 hours). The classes are a combination of instruction and hands-on
practice. Topics include: Getting connected, WWW, WS_FTP, HTML, Usenet News,
Eudora, Telnet and other interactive tools and trouble shooting with these
tools. I know some 'advanced systems' guys that should take this course,
but you only have to want to learn for this class to be useful.
Online Documentation
We are in the process of revamping our web pages. In addition, we will be
adding a page of online documentation. These pointers will be a combination
of documents located elsewhere on the net as well as some documentation
to help you with your Unibase software.
Price Structure
Unibase has restructed our accounts. We have added a high volume account
that costs less than $1.00 for the first 20 hrs/mo and $1.00 after that.
There is another type of account in the planning stages... a low monthly
charge and pre-purchased hours.
In addition to those new developments we now carry unused time forward to
the next month. See our costs page for more details.
Bring A Friend
Anouncing the Unibase "Bring a Friend" promotion.
For every person that subscribes to Unibase and tells us that you, a Unibase subscriber sent
them, we will give you a free month (10 hours) of access. Not valid with
any other Unibase promotions, your friend must stay for at least 2 months.
